Some people say that tourism has many negative effects on the countries that people travel to. How true is this statement? What can tourists do to reduce the harmful effects of tourism on local cultures and environments?
A certain number of individuals assume that tourism is affecting adversley on local culture and environment. In my opinion, this argument has valuable proof. Firstly, although tourism brings a good financial income to the remote touristic destinations, there are number of denyable problems which are considered to tackle in future. For instance, to make a successful business some investors expand the area of resorts for the cost of inhabitants. While the life of tourists becomes colourful with all facilities, native people suffer with lack of water, energy or food supply. Furthermore, tiny islands are likely to be covered with loads of rubbish afterwards. To overcome all mentioned problems, authorities should set unquestiobable rules and regulations for stockhilders to build a touristic zone. Secondly, tourism brings a significant cultural changes into local community. People face to various cultural diversity while they are in interaction. For instance, local dwellers cannot accept backpacker's style of clothing, way of eating or manners and behaviour, actually this situation may contradict. It is probably may occur that, due to those differences people could loose cultural identity or sometimes they might suffer with intellectual inexpierence. Moreover, there is also a big risk for local residents to loose national cuisine, since not all tourists tend to consume seafood or unknown meal. As a result several food stuff industry nets are altering local diet. In fact, mega fast food canteens, namely McDonalds or KFC and others have already developed in most touristic destinations. In conclusion, I strongly believe that, while tourism industry reaches the peak at some faraway islands, local population habe menace of their lifestyle.
